Broil works, but Bake does not cook normally

Describe the functions you have already used rather than running a series of high-temperature tests. Did the top of food brown under Broil while an ordinary Bake program stayed cool or took much longer? Identify the cavity and settings. On a range with more than one oven, the smaller cavity is a separate observation from the larger one.

Consult your model manual to confirm that the intended cooking mode was selected and any normal startup steps were completed. Thermador cooking configurations vary, so the label “gas range” does not describe every oven function. Avoid using Broil as a substitute for a failed baking program; it changes how food receives heat and can burn the surface before the center is ready.

The technician needs to distinguish a control-selection issue from an actual change in heating. Include any error, relay-like clicking or unexpected shutdown you already noticed. A working mode can help define the scope of the fault, but it does not prove that one particular element, igniter or board is the correct replacement.

Useful observations before you call

• List the mode that fails and any mode known to have worked during normal use.
• Record the target setting, elapsed time and whether preheat was announced.
• Identify the cavity and appliance model, not only the overall range width.
