Bosch Dishwasher Repair

Standing water, an interrupted cycle, or dishes that come out dirty? Get help with your Bosch dishwasher and understand what the symptoms may mean before your service visit.

Drainage & leak concernsCleaning & drying problemsModel-specific diagnosis

Find your symptom

What is your Bosch dishwasher doing?

A symptom helps narrow the checks; it does not identify a failed part by itself. Tell us whether the problem happens at the beginning, during washing, or at the end of a cycle, and whether anything changed recently.

01 / DRAINAGE

Water will not drain

Food debris in the filter or drainage path can interfere with draining. Note whether the dishwasher drains at all and whether water remains after a completed cycle. A repeated problem needs diagnosis before replacing a pump.

02 / STARTING

The cycle will not start

Check that the door closes fully and that a rack or dish is not in the way. Review the control-lock setting in your model’s manual. Tell us whether the display is dark or the controls respond.

03 / CLEANING

Dishes still look dirty

Check the removable filter and loading arrangement first. A tall item can obstruct a spray arm. Note whether the problem affects one rack or the whole load, and whether detergent remains after the cycle.

04 / DRYING

Dishes come out wet

Check rinse aid and leave space for water to drain off dishes. If your model offers Extra Dry or Sanitize, consult its manual about these options. Persistent poor results deserve a closer look.

05 / FILLING

Little or no water enters

A water-supply or door-detection issue may interrupt filling. Note whether the problem began after plumbing work or installation. Internal valves and switches need appropriate testing; do not bypass the door safety system.

06 / LEAKS & NOISE

A leak or unusual sound

Record where water appears and when the sound happens. Stop using the dishwasher if water reaches the floor, there is a burning smell, or a breaker trips repeatedly. Avoid removing panels or reaching into a running appliance.

Bosch dishwasher error codes

Photograph the complete message, including any punctuation. Code formats and instructions can vary by model. These common codes are clues for diagnosis.

E15

Leak protection has activatedBosch identifies water detected in the appliance base. Stop the cycle, turn off the dishwasher’s water supply if safely accessible, and arrange service. Repeated resets or tilting the appliance do not address the cause.

E24 / E25

Check the drainage pathPossible causes include an obstruction, a kinked drain hose, a pump-cover issue, or a blocked air gap. The code alone does not prove that the pump needs replacement.

E22

The filter may be blockedFollow your model’s filter-cleaning instructions. If the message returns after correct cleaning and reinstallation, request further diagnosis.

E09

A heating-system faultBosch associates this code with the heat pump’s internal heater. Arrange professional diagnosis rather than opening electrical components.

A useful first check

Clean the filter correctly

A dirty filter can let food particles recirculate and affect performance. With the dishwasher off and cool, use the owner’s manual to locate and remove the filter assembly.

Bosch recommends running water, mild soap, and a soft brush to remove debris. Reinstall the assembly securely as directed before running another cycle. Watch for sharp fragments; do not reach blindly into the pump area.

Drying works differently

A wet tub is not the whole story

Bosch’s condensation-drying design lets moisture condense on the cooler stainless-steel tub. Water on the tub walls alone does not establish a heater failure.

Judge the results on the dishes, check rinse aid, and use the drying options available on your exact model. Note whether the performance changed suddenly or has always been similar.

Make your service request more useful

Have these details ready

  1. Your model number (E-Nr). Photograph the full rating label. Bosch places dishwasher identification on the top edge or right side of the door.
  2. The symptom and error message. Include when it happens and whether it occurs every cycle.
  3. Recent changes. Mention plumbing work, a new installation, a different detergent, or an earlier repair.
  4. Your ZIP code and access details. Let us know about a custom cabinet panel, restricted access, or building entry requirements.

Diagnosis before a parts decision

Different faults can produce similar symptoms. A useful repair assessment considers the model, fault history, installation, and the affected system before deciding whether a component needs replacement.

Contact Alan Appliance Repair with those details to discuss a service appointment. Ask about the service-call charge, the proposed repair, parts availability, and any applicable repair coverage before approving work.

Still under a manufacturer’s warranty? Check your coverage and Bosch’s service requirements before arranging a paid repair.

Bosch manuals and exploded parts diagrams

Use the complete model number (E-Nr), including its suffix, when selecting a drawing. A dishwasher with a similar series name can have a different pump, rack or door assembly.

Use a diagram to name the area of a leak or explain a proposed repair. A numbered callout is not a diagnosis and may differ from the orderable part number. Confirm compatibility and the actual fault before buying parts; internal electrical tests, pump access and installation changes require appropriate service procedures.

Common questions

Before you book

Should I keep resetting the dishwasher?

A reset may clear a display without resolving the underlying fault. Photograph the message first and follow the instructions for your model. If it returns, or there is leaking, a burning smell, or repeated breaker tripping, stop using the appliance and arrange service.

Can you tell me the repair price from an error code?

An error code is a starting point. The final scope depends on the exact model, the cause, access, and any parts required. Share your model number and symptoms when you call, and ask for the applicable charges before the visit.

Is repair or replacement the better choice?

Compare the proposed repair with the full cost of a replacement, including installation. Also consider the dishwasher’s age, overall condition, previous faults, parts availability, and existing warranty coverage. A diagnosis makes that comparison more useful than an age rule alone.

Do I need to pull the dishwasher out before the visit?

No need to dismantle the appliance to describe a fault. Clear the area in front of it, keep the model-label photo ready, and mention any cabinet or access restrictions when requesting service. Avoid disconnecting water lines or electrical connections yourself.
