Oven Not Heating? Preparing for a Repair Visit
An oven that will not heat, takes longer to preheat or cooks unevenly needs an assessment based on its model and symptoms. A dark display is different from working controls with a cold oven cavity.
Explain which cooking functions are affected
Tell us whether the problem happens in bake, broil or another mode you normally use. For a double oven, specify which cavity is affected. Note whether the issue began suddenly or developed over time, and whether an error appeared on the display.
Heating, ignition, temperature sensing, controls and door operation can affect performance in different ways. The symptom alone does not establish a failed part. Our oven repair service starts with an appliance assessment.
Have these details ready
- The brand and model number, if accessible.
- Whether it is a gas or electric oven, built-in wall oven or range.
- The cooking mode and cavity involved.
- Any error message already displayed.
- What changed before the problem began.
- Access restrictions, such as tight cabinetry or an elevated installation.
Prepare for the appointment
Clear a route to the appliance and let the oven cool before the agreed visit. Leave internal checks, removal from cabinetry and electrical testing to the technician. If a door is stuck or locked, describe what happened rather than forcing it open.
If the cooktop is affected as well, mention both symptoms. Our range repair page covers combined cooking appliances. Ask about the diagnosis, estimate and compatible-part availability before proceeding.
